Comment By: Bob Archell on March 16, 2004 04:53:26 AM Report
A personal, but a happy and optomistic love poem. They are the best kind! Nice piece, the style is familiar to me for some reason.

The war is over .........is it really?

Very good poem Lubaina. It shows the devastating effect of war on real, ordinary people. Things would be better if countries were allowed to sort their own problems out, instead of other, bigger countries getting involved just because they have the military power, or because there is an election on the horizon.

I could say that this poem tells to me nothing I've not found elsewhere, but the horrors of war ring true and are as resonant as they have always been. The line in the "about the poem" section that says "It's sad to know why we all fight when we all have enough of everything" I don't agree here, some don't even have the basic neccessities and Man's greed or modesty is the only thing that defines something as being too much or too little. That said this poem is a commendable ode to your Uncles lament. In terms of future improvement, I suggest you draw the reader in with ever more descriptive insights into a condition or feeling etc with metaphors and imagery and all the other tools a poet has at his/her disposal.

Good sentiments, not sure about the use of "W/no hopes to hope" overall a good poem about a difficult subject
