I have sat here for so many nights
Wishing you would write or call
As well as checking my email
Holding on to foolish dreams
That were never real at all
Days have come and gone
And I know now you won't show
So when the phone rings
Or there is a knock on the door
My heart doesn't skip a beat anymore
I have turned so many men away
With no interest at all
I wouldn't even give them the time of day
Knowing you were the only one I want
So patiently I would wait
But now days and weeks and months
Have slowly gone by
And you are still so far away
Leaving me without much belief
That anything will ever change
It has been so long now
Since I let my feelings show
And those pretty dancing leaves
Have died beneath the snow
And the loneliness is killing me
More then 500 poems and messages
I've written to you with so much care
Left to drift and die somewhere
I never even know if you read them
And I can't hurt like this anymore
I blame me, I don't blame you
So I won't open my heart again
Anytime very soon
And I won't let one more tear fall
I will just build stronger walls
When June comes soon
I will go out in the monsoon
And dance like there's no tomorrow
Then do what I do best
Smile and go home alone
And you will be out there somewhere
Just a memory from last year
Who never really cared
I guess you made your choices
So it's time to let you go
